MEC Cronje initiates financial education for KZN Small and Medium Enterprises (SMMES)

It is widely recognised that financial literacy levels in the province and in South Africa are at an unacceptably low levels. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) are an important part of the growing economy in the province. They emerge from a determined entrepreneurial spirit possessed by many citizens who have risen from a difficult past looking forward to a brighter future; this sector is not immune to financially illiteracy tangle which to a certain extent also contributes to their downfall.

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC for Finance, Ms Ina Cronjé who is the champion of the KZN Financial Literacy Association in partnership with Ithala, will on Tuesday, 21 June 2011, at Mfolozi FET (Further Education and Training) College, Esikhawini in Mpangeni, launch the SMMEs financial literacy initiatives to supply relevant information and support services to SMMEs and to ensure growth and improvement of new and existing businesses in the province.

At the launch will be local Business Sector, Local Chambers, Development Desk of Big Business, Provincial SMMEs Desk and about 200 SMMEs (with their success stories).

All media are invited to attend.
