KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Bheki Cele will on Friday, 24 July 2009, at 08h30 present his budget speech for the financial year 2009/10 at the KwaZulu Natal Legislature on transport issues. The second budget speech session will commence at 13h00 where the focus will be on Community Safety and Liaison issues.
The MEC's budget speech is expected to give more focus on rural development and road safety initiatives. The MEC is further expected to outline initiatives that will better the lives the people of the province by creating jobs and imparting skills that will ensure sustainability. Road Safety is also a key matter that is to be outlined strongly in the MEC's speech. Other issues that are expected to be outlined by the MEC are on public transport and law enforcement.
During this budget speech the MEC is expected to focus on the new initiative under the theme "Operation Yenza umehluko" which is aimed at encouraging the public to play a positive role in road safety and to create a safe and crime free KZN for the benefit of everyone. The MEC is also expected to highlight on the state of readiness for 2010.
