Launch: Youth Ambassadors financial education

KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC for Finance, Ms Ina Cronjé in partnership with the Youth Development Directorate in the Office of the Premier and Nedbank will launch the Youth Ambassadors Financial Education programme as well as the KwaZulu-Natal financial literacy household survey.

The event will be held at the Nedbank Auditorium, Kingsmead Office Park, 90 Bram Fischer Road in Durban.

Nedbank will be sponsoring these financial education workshops in all the municipalities where 4 600 Youth Ambassadors are based. This initiative falls under the Out of School Youth focus group of the KwaZulu-Natal Financial Literacy Association (KZNFLA).

The material to be used has been accredited by the South African Qualifications Authority and is on NQF Level 2.

The launching of the first survey on the levels of financial literacy in households is intended to assist the KZNFLA to address the financial education needs of the people. This fits in perfectly with the Operation Sukuma Sakhe programme driven by the Office of the Premier. Questionnaires will be taken by the Youth Ambassadors to the households and will be processed by the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit of the Association.

This is a first in the country. You are cordially invited to join us at this event which is documented as a milestone in the history of financial education in KZN and South Africa.
