Media is invited as the MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, visits Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital to congratulate mothers on their Christmas babies on 25 December 2010.
This is visit has become a tradition in the Department of Health to wish well all new citizens and mothers on their bungles of joy. It also goes inline with the department's commitment to ensure quality maternal and newborn services in the province. In this regard the MEC is on record saying; "Of all the people being impacted by the poor health outcomes, the children and expecting mothers are foremost in the minds of our government and the department in particular. It is no surprise, therefore, that we are concentrating our efforts on improving maternal and child care in public health facilities."
