KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, hands over cheques to flood victims

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, invites journalists to join him at Katherine Booth Hospital tomorrow, 22 September 2009, when he hands
over Disaster Relief Fund cheques to families of 2002 flood victims who died in a road accident coming from the hospital.

Six Catherine Booth Hospital employees and a non-staff member were on their way home from the hospital when the car they were travelling in was swept away by raging floods. The department opened a Disaster Relief Fund to assist the families that were left behind. Good Samaritans in the form of individual persons and municipalities made contributions towards the fund.

MEC Dhlomo will hand over the proceeds of the fund to the beneficiaries at the hospital tomorrow. The MEC is also expected to lay the wreath at the site of the memorial stone that was erected in remembrance of the victims. He will be accompanied by the families and Hospital Board members.
