uMgungundlovu District Municipality, under the leadership of its Political Champion, MEC for Finance, Mrs Ina Cronjé, will on Monday, 6 February 2012, launch the Leleti School Ground Campaign at Eastwood in Pietermaritzburg, with the aim of engaging with stakeholders (pupils, teachers, parents, and the community) regarding the various issues which most affect them and are of importance.
Stakeholders will be engaged amongst other issues on HIV and AIDS, teenage pregnancy, crime and drug abuse. This is done so as to obtain the buy-in of these stakeholders in effecting long term, positive behavioral change within the targeted communities.
The operation Sukuma Sakhe-Leleti School Grounds Roadshow is part of the provincial government Flagship Program known as Sukuma Sakhe aimed at integrating all departments to focus on solving community problems on the ground, starting with areas of abject poverty and making a difference by partnering with the communities.
MEC will also check the status of the functionality of the flagship programme in the area by visiting one of their War Rooms where she will get feedback on all the programmes that are being implemented in the ward by all departments.
