KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Health MEC, Sibongiseni Dhlomo to announce new opportunities for students who want to study towards Medicine

Journalists are invited as the MEC for Health in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, makes an announcement on a new opportunity for students who want to study medicine.

Every year thousands of students who dream of studying medicine are shuttered when Universities reject their applications to enter medical schools. Many of these have very good results and their parents have set aside investments for their children studies. However, due to limited spaces in the South African Universities many are forced to change career choices and/or idle at home until space is found for their study a few years later.

The MEC will visit Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital to welcome the newly graduated healthcare professionals into the public service and also brief the media on the agreement that the province has recently reached on increasing student intake with Cuba.

The MEC explains this initiative by saying; “We are very excited as a department and province that we have reached this agreement with our friends in Cuba. This opportunity will ensure that those students who did not get spaces in South African Universities realise their dreams and come back to serve the people of this country.”

The visit is scheduled as follows:

Date: Thursday, 5 January 2012
Time: 13h00
Venue: Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital
