Handing over of houses and title deeds in the Free State over the festive season

About 1 200 beneficiaries will walk into their new homes in the next two weeks; with some owning a brick and mortar home for the first time in their lives. These new home owners will also receive title deeds, assuring them of ownership and security of tenure.

The MEC for Cooperative Governance, Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements will go on a festive drive to hand over houses and title deeds in various towns in the Free State from 21 December through to 1 January 2011. This being a festive season and a happy time for most, the MEC thought it befitting to bring a smile to those who are in need of the basic need – shelter, a place to call home!

Starting in Kroonstad tomorrow, Premier Magashule and MEC will hand over 10 of the 200 houses to beneficiaries who include four elderly, two child-headed households, two beneficiaries from minority groups, and one disabled person. The MEC will proceed to the following towns as per programme below:

Starting at 10am tomorrow, the programme will start at the municipal offices and proceed to the Seisoville Hall. The programme for the day, applicable to all towns, includes handing out title deeds to beneficiaries and completing application forms for new applicants.

Our bigger and better, differently designed houses are no less than 50m², have a ceiling, full electrical fittings, a full bath and a small veranda, have face brick or painted plaster finishing and are a marvel to look at. This according to the Free State provincial government, is how a house is supposed to be, houses that provide for individual choice of a unique home.
