Government economists breaking silos

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Finance, Ms Ina Cronjé will on Thursday, 1 October 2009 at 9h00, officially open a two-day congress on the Inaugural Provincial Government Economist Forum that will see economists and researchers from all nine provinces coming together at Golden Horse in Pietermaritzburg to discuss important and relevant matters that are significant to the functions and activities of economists within provincial treasuries and departments of economic development in the country.

This historic national congress is intending to breakdown silos in the government structures as there is no forum for government researchers and economists from different provinces to exchange ideas and to put their heads together. It is envisaged that this inaugural congress will give birth to an annual national meeting of provinces that will be held on a rotational basis.
