Youth Development Agency launches 16 youth owned co-operatives in Limpopo, 16 - 17 Jul

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) will showcase and launch 16 NYDA-funded co-operatives in Limpopo,  Nwanedi Village and Thohoyandou respectively.

In 2013 the NYDA partnered with the Limpopo Department of Agriculture to improve the production capacity of young small-scale vegetable producers in Nwanedi Village and as a result of this partnership farms that are operated by young people were identified and have since enjoyed significant economic growth.

In Nwanedi the NYDA has funded 11 co-operatives who plough butternut while the Marula Co-operative in Thohoyandou has seven NYDA-funded co-operatives which manufacture cooking oil and beauty products such as lotions and soaps made from marula plant extracts. The Marula Cooperative is run by 30 members in total who belong to six different cooperatives.
