Ugu district to host the Provincial Club Development Tournament

More than 368 participants from across the province of KwaZulu-Natal will converge on Ugu Sport and Leisure Centre in Margate from 29 November to 1 December to compete at the Provincial Club Development Tournament. 

Established by the KwaZulu-Natal Sport and Recreation (KZNDSR), the initiative seeks to identify and nurture talented athletes in the province.The tournament will provide young and upcoming athletes with a rare opportunity to showcase their skills with the hope of being channeled into mainstream competitive sport.

Through this programme support staff like coaches, technical officials and administrators from lower levels are provided with necessary skills to ensure sustainability and growth of this initiative. Presently, there are 439 clubs that are part of this programme from all 11 districts.

The club development programme strives to increase the levels of participation in sport and recreation by motivating communities to develop active lifestyles. The following codes will be contested in the 2013 Provincial Club Development Tournament: netball, football, volleyball, basketball, rugby 7s and athletics.
