SASSA conducts Integrated Community Registration Outreach Programme at Govan Mbeki Local Municipality in Leslie Township, 30 Aug

SASSA invades Leslie Township.

South African Social Security Agency [SASSA] in Mpumalanga will conduct Integrated Community Registration Outreach Program [ICROP] at Govern Mbeki Local Municipality in Leslie Township. The aim is to ensure that people around the area they have access to SASSA services and in return SASSA gets an opportunity to conduct beneficiary education, to empower clients/beneficiaries. The community in Leslie can only access SASSA services in Evander or Balfour, which demands that they travel and incur transport costs. The Agency initiated this ICROP to ensure that the community do not spend the limited social grants money, instead SASSA brings services in their doorsteps.

During the ICROP communities will be educated about the changes such as Child support grant [Top-up], the online application and alternative methods of payments. Beneficiaries must note that SASSA is not forcing them to change their cards to any payment channel but it is their choice. Leslie is a small town that is overpopulated and residents are largely unemployed. It also surrounded by farm communities.

The services that will be rendered are social grants applications, reviews, alternative methods of payment and enquiries. Various stakeholders such as financial credit service providers, department of Home Affairs [DHA], Social Development [DSD], South African Police Services [SAPS] and other community structures, NGOs, and NPOs will be rendering their services.
