Premier Sihle Zikalala visits female owned enterprises and addresses Women’s Day event, 9 Aug

In an effort to breathe life into the mission of the sixth administration which is to grow the economy and create jobs, the Provincial Government of KwaZulu-Natal will use the 2019 Women’s Day celebrations to assess progress being made towards women’s economic empowerment.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Mr Sihle Zikalala and members of the provincial Executive Council will on Friday, 9 August 2019, visit several successful women run businesses as part of the Provincial Government’s Women’s Day commemoration programme.

“We have specifically identified projects or businesses led by women because we want to celebrate and appreciate women’s excellence. When more than 20 000 women marched to the Union Buildings in 1956, they were, among other things, fighting for women’s rights and access to opportunities. We are proud that the new government has created opportunities for women.”

The Premier will visit Zamokwakhe Trading which produces tissue paper as follows:
Date: 9 August 2019
Venue: Zamokwakhe Trading plant, Dannhauser Municipality (next to Dancol Port complex)
Time: 8h00

The Premier and MECs will then proceed to the formal programme of the day to be held as follows:
Date: 9 August 2019
Venue: Osizweni Stadium, Newcastle
Time: 11 am

Members of the media are cordially invited to cover the Women’s Day activities.
