KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala will tomorrow, Wednesday 02 September 2020, deliver the eulogy at the funeral of prominent attorney and human rights activist Mr Comfort Ngidi in Richmond.
Mr Ngidi, one of the finest legal eagles in the province, passed away in hospital due to Covid-19-related complications on Saturday night.
A long-standing advocate for human rights and campaigner for transformation in the justice system, Mr Ngidi served both the provincial and national governments in various capacities with distinction and aplomb.
Mr Comfort Ngidi was part of the Reception Committee when President Mandela was released from prison. He went around political violence ravaged zones in KZN taking former President Mandela and the ANC leadership to facilitate peace.
At the time of his passing he was mediating for a peaceful resolution of conflict in the Mbuyazi Traditional Community near Richards Bay.
