Minister Edna Molewa launches VSEP effluent treatment plant, 17 Sept

The Minister of Environmental Affairs, Mrs Edna Molewa, will officially launch and inaugurate the Vibratory Shear Advanced Processing (VSEP) effluent treatment plant at the Kwadukuza Landfill site near Stanger in KwaZulu-Natal on 17 September 2015.

The VSEP effluent treatment plant is the first of its kind in South Africa.

Waste management in South Africa has historically relied on disposal as the primary waste option. However, this reliance on landfill is now changing, primarily through the introduction of key waste and water management legislation.

With the promulgation of the new waste regulations and the specific focus on zero liquid to landfill in six years, the need for suitable treatment technologies is critical. Dolphin Coast Landfill Management (Pty) Ltd has invested more than R50 million in a VSEP treatment plant which is able to treat any type of landfill leachate to water for re-use and concentrate.

Details of the event are as follows:

Date: 17 September 2015
Times: 10h00 – 14h00
Venue: Dolphin Coast Landfill Site, Portion 159 of New Guelderland, Kwadukuza, Stanger
