The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Mr Des van Rooyen will be visiting the Northern Cape Province to assess the state of priority municipalities that were identified as part of the Back to Basics (B2B) phase 2 approach to provide them focused support.
This Minister will be joined in this meeting by the Provincial leadership and the municipalities will be represented by the Troika. This meeting with municipalities will look at the issues that continue to give them challenges in a number of areas like governance, administration, financial management and negative audit reports.
The meeting will assist to find solutions to the perennial problems that persists amid all many types of interventions at the level of municipalities. Addressing identified challenges will ensure that a clear plan of action and approach is agreed upon for an effective and efficient functioning municipalities.
