Multi-million rand road infrastructure boost for uMsinga
As part of celebrating the historic milestone of 20 years of freedom and democracy, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, will hand over three bridges to the people of the rural uMsinga, under the uMzinyathi District municipality.
The three bridges will connect the community of uMsinga to important amenities such as schools, clinics, shopping centres and public transport facilities.
The three multi-million rand infrastructure projects have reached completion and are part of government’s strategy to reduce levels of drowning in the flooding rivers of uMsinga, including the big Tugela River.
Learners attending local schools will also be key beneficiaries who will use the Ngubevu Pedestrian Bridge, Zizi River Bridge, and Jolwayo-Tugela River Bridge, because their routes to school will now be easily accessible.
MEC Mchunu will also announce plans by the provincial Department of Transport through infrastructure investment to create more jobs, a key national priority alongside addressing poverty and inequality.
