MEC Sihle Zikalala to lead World Aids Day commemoration in Mtubatuba
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr Sihle Zikalala in his capacity the Cabinet OSS Champion for Umkhanyakude District will on Saturday, 1 December 2018, lead a World AIDS Day Commemoration event in Kwashukishela, Mtubatuba in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
This year’s event, which marks 30 since the first commemoration as a global event, is being held under the theme”Checka Impilo - Know Your Status”. This is also a theme that is part of the National Wellness Campaign, Checka Impilo, a call to action for all South Africans to take responsibility for their health and wellness.
MEC Zikalala will also give an update on the statistics of HIV/AIDS, TB and other related illnesses in the District as well as unpack government action in providing the necessary treatment.
The event also provides a golden opportunity for citizens to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support to those infected and affected and to remember those who passed on from diseases associated with HIV.
The commemorative event will take place as follows:
