The MEC for Education in KwaZulu-Natal, Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni, MPL, is going to be the keynote speaker during the launch of the School Democracy Week in Ilembe District.
The aims of the School Democracy Week are to: Educate learners on the mandate of the Electoral Commission. Encourage learners to participate in the electoral democracy by registering as voters at the age of 16 and to actually go out and vote when they turn 18.
To raise awareness on the 2016 General Local Government Elections.
The School Democracy Week is as a result of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Basic Education and the Electoral Commission.
