KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mr Willies Mchunu, will officially kick off his activities tomorrow, 16 July 2013 leading up to Mandela Day and as part of the provincial government’s Public Service Week.
MEC Mchunu will visit the Morester’s children’s home in Ladysmith where he will begin by cleaning the site and then hand over toys to the children. He will then visit the home of Gogo Slovas Hlatshwayo to fence her home as government’s effort to promote safety and protection of senior citizens. He will then visit Acaciaville to provide food for the elderly as well as distribute 100 blankets and walking sticks.
On 18 July 2013, MEC Mchunu will return to Uthukela District to officiate the beginning of the construction of houses, which will be handed over to three destitute families. The first family is the Kubheka family of five children who live in one room with their father. The second family, the Miya family, will be moved from their old home to a new, better home closer to health care facilities, as they have a child with a disability.
The last beneficiaries will be the Hadebe family whose five children were left orphaned following the passing of their parents. Mchunu will then complete off his day by visiting the Masibumbane Creche in Driefontein to handover a Jojo water tank.
