KZN MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Cyril Xaba welcomes the visit by the National Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Mr Senzeni Zokwana to a follow-up Food Security Imbizo in the Amajuba District
The Media are invited to attend the second Food Security Imbizo to be held in the Amajuba District on Tuesday, 7 April 2015. Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr Senzeni Zokwana and his Deputy Minister, General Bheki Cele will be visiting projects in the area and addressing the concerns of the community. They will be accompanied by the Premier of the Province, Mr E.S. Mchunu.
The visit follows the Food Security and Nutrition Imbizo that the Ministers held in the Newcastle area in December last year. It is also part of the second National Imbizo Focus Week from 7-12 April 2015. MEC Xaba welcomes the engagement with the national ministers. He said that this was an important event as studies had shown that although the country produces sufficient food for its population, ever-increasing food prices prevent the poor from getting adequate nutrition. Such engagements, he added, also laid down the groundwork for food security for future generations of South Africans.
