Thousands of civil servants across the province are expected to gather at the International Convention Centre tomorrow, 24 July, for the Premier’s Service Excellence Awards Ceremony. The event starts at 18h00 and media is invited to attend.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu will hand over awards to the winners in the following categories:
- Best Head of Department of the Year
- Best Municipal Manager of the Year
- Best Public Servant of the Year
- Best Run Municipality of the Year
- Best Frontline Service Delivery Employee of the Year
- Best Public Service Leader of the Year
- Best Public Service Creative & Innovator of the Year
- Best Public Service Institution (National) of the Year within KZN
- Best Public Service Institution (Provincial) of the Year
- Best Public Service Implemented Programme of Project of the Year
- The Lifetime Achiever Awards (at the Premier’s Discretion)
- The DGs Special Award (at the DG’s discretion)
- The Premier’s Special Award (at the Premier’s Discretion)
The awards will take place few days after the whole world celebrated Nelson Mandela’s birthday for the first time since his passing away in December last year.
“Hosting the Premier’s Service Excellency Awards Ceremony in July is very timely and appropriate because it gives us the opportunity to promote the legacy and values of Tata Nelson Mandela,” KZN Premier said.
“Tata Madiba believed that the State was the only instrument available to ensure a Better Life for Our People. Together with celebrating the life of Tata Madiba, we will celebrate the fact that our 20 years of democracy have been characterized by solid service delivery.”
“It was Tata Nelson Mandela, as the first President of a democratic South Africa, who spearheaded the transformation of the Public Service. We want to pay homage to civil servants who have been part of the transformation of the public service.”
