KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu will tomorrow, 13 August 2014, release the report of the Road Traffic Inspectorate. In the State of the Province Address delivered on the 26th June this year, announced that the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) Commission of Inquiry had finished its work. He undertook to study the report and act on it speedily.
RTI Commission of Inquiry was appointed to investigate and report on the recruitment process which resulted in the death of eight prospective candidates participating in a fitness test conducted on 27 December 2012.
A media lock-up has been arranged to allow the media to go through the report before the Press Briefing. The media lock-up has been scheduled as follows:
Arrival of the media at 11h00, at the Office of the Premier, Moses Mabhida Building, 300 Langalibalele Street.
At 11h20, the media moves to the 6th floor for the media lock-up.
- Mobile phones are handed to security at the entrance of the media lock-in venue.
- Recording equipment such as voice recorders, dictaphones will be allowed in the media lock-up room.
- Laptops and 3G cards will not be allowed in the lock-up room.
- Journalists will be allowed to go through the report and to study the recommendations.
- Journalists move to the Auditorium on the Ground Floor for the Press Conference which will be addressed by the Premier.
