The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Finance, Ms. Ina Cronjé, will officially launch a series of the Pre-Budget Road-shows in the province on Tuesday, 12 November 2013 at Harry Gwala District Municipality. The roadshows serve as the forum of engaging and listening to the views of the business sector and communities of the province on what they would like to see in the next year (2014/15) budget allocations.
This consultation marks the first Pre-Budget Road-show for the next financial year. Harry Gwala District Municipality Mayor, Councillor Mluleki Ndobe and KwaSani Mayor, Councillor Mduduzi Banda, will accompany the MEC when interacting with people to get more insight on their needs as the province prepares for the next year budget.
The district municipality will also use this opportunity to engage the community on the municipality's Integrated Development Plan (IDP) so that it is aligned to the needs of the community.
The public will also be informed about the government plans to use allocated budget to alleviate the Tripple Challenge of poverty, unemployment and inequality in the province. It is also in line with the provincial government’s initiative to encourage public participation in the provincial budget allocations and to promote transparency as well as encouraging the culture of saving.
Communities and business sector in the province are encouraged to participate and to give tips to MEC Cronjé at these road-shows which are aimed at communicating the planned budget allocations, educate and empower communities so that they can make informed contribution in the shaping of the provincial budget.
