KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC for Finance, Ms Ina Cronjé presents the provincial budget speech

KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC for Finance, Ms Ina Cronjé, will on Tuesday, 12 March 2013 deliver the 2013/14 provincial budget speech at the Legislature building in Pietermaritzburg.

In preparing a provincial budget which is informed by key national and provincial priorities, Provincial Treasury had to ensure that the province has enough revenue to cover expenditure, to provide sustainable service delivery to all the citizens.

MEC Cronjé will give details of the changes in the equitable share allocation for KZN emanating from the changes in the population data as indicated by the 2011 Statistics SA census data and explain how the province will find savings from within its existing resources to finance any budget shortfalls that can be experience going forward.

MEC Cronjé will put emphasis on sound financial management and translate government’s priorities into programmes by addressing critical areas for development, coordinating infrastructure investment and delivery, creation of job opportunities and indicating the government’s plan to fight poverty in KZN.

There will be a lock-up session or a technical briefing with the media, where the Provincial Treasury will explain the intricate details of this year’s Budget Vote.
