KwaZulu-Natal Cabinet Lekgotla to discuss political violence
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu and key leaders of the provincial and local government will attend the Provincial Cabinet Lekgotla which is scheduled to take place at the Public Service Academy, Umbilo in Durban.
“This Cabinet Lekgotla forms part of a process aimed at reviewing the current administration's performance over the past five years, and to devise plans for service delivery over the next term of office.”
“This meeting will also enable Cabinet to prepare for the State of the Province which is scheduled to take place on the 5th March 2015.”
“Importantly, the issue of political violence will also come under discussion because we cannot afford to have the resurgence of violence in this province. As government we again want to condemn intimidation and violence against any member of any political party. Government is allocating resources to ensure that the peace and stability is restored in KwaMashu.”
“We are also pleading with leaders of political parties to educate their members to view political debates, campaigns and elections not as deadly contests but as democratic tools aimed at enhancing a healthy competition of ideas and as the best form of fast-tracking service delivery.”
Media is invited to attend.
