KZN MEC'S to visit storm hit areas in Bergville this morning
A high powered delegation comprising of MECs from various departments is expected to visit the area of Bergville in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands where violent storms, accompanied by torrential downpours, cut a swath of destruction 5pm last night, Monday 17 March 2014.
Preliminary information reveals that:
- one person killed by lightening in uPhongolo Northern KZN
- hospital with 150 patients was blown away
- houses were damaged
- eighteen injuries are reported at this stage
The MECs will lead efforts to respond to the disaster incidents and commence processed to assess the damage.
