Health HOD to honour the Department’s female workers during Women’s Day Event at Addington Hospital, Durban

 

Head of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health, Dr Sibongile Zungu, will deliver her keynote address at a Women’s Day event which will be held at Addington Hospital’s Nurses’ Home on Tuesday, 16 September 2014.

Nearly 1000 women from across the Department’s 11 Districts, including many in senior positions of leadership, will be present.

The event seeks to reinforce the importance and benefits of Healthy Lifestyles for women while celebrating the huge strides made in women empowerment, gender equity and addressing diversity. It further provides an opportunity for women at all levels to come together to engage each other on common issues that affect them as women with the aim of sharing best practices, testimonies of successes and encouraging each other through motivational discourse.

The KZN Department of Health has many good stories to tell about women empowerment through the numerous flagship programmes that focus specifically on women’s health. This includes campaigns such as Phila Ma; Hlola Manje –Zivikele; Siyanqoba countdown to April 2015 and No woman shall die in KZN from preventable causes,” and many more.

At the event, Dr Zungu will also hand out assistive devices to the Department’s visually-impaired staff members.
