The Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Mr Narend Singh, will lead the park visits and induction of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority Board from 05 to 07 May 2026 at the iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority, in the KwaZulu-Natal Province.
The induction programme forms part of government’s commitment to strengthening governance, accountability, and strategic oversight within South Africa’s protected areas. The newly appointed Board will be inducted on its roles and responsibilities, while also receiving first hand exposure to operations within the park.
The programme will include engagements with park management, rangers, local stakeholders, as well as site visits to key areas such as Mkhuze Game Reserve, St Lucia Estuary, and Cape Vidal. The Deputy Minister will also engage with small-scale and commercial farmers on matters relating to conservation and community development.
