Deputy Minister Skwatsha to preside over NARYSEC youth pass-out parade at SAS Saldanha naval base in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape
The Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Mr Mcebisi Skwatsha will on Wednesday, 13 December 2023 preside over a pass-out parade for participants of the National Rural Youth Services Corps (NARYSEC) Programme at SAS Saldanha Naval Base in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
The National Rural Youth Service Corps (NARYSEC) Programme is a youth skills development programme of the DALRRD, and it is among the Department’s contributions towards alleviating the high levels of youth unemployment in rural areas.
The focus of the NARYSEC Programme is to capacitate rural youth so that they can become economically active and contribute towards the upliftment of their rural communities.
A total of 714 youth from different provinces will be graduating at SAS Saldanha Naval Base, after completing a 10-week induction and youth leadership development training programme. The youth will return to their respective provinces where they will be enrolled at various accredited education and training institutions, e.g., Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges and Agricultural Colleges; where they will commence with specific skills development interventions to enable them to transition into these confirmed economic opportunities.
These youth have been recruited for specific economic opportunities related to either employment or business development.
