Deputy Minister Manamela to lead the agriculture and other critical skills careers expo 2023 in Ugu District, KZN
Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Mr Buti Manamela will lead the agriculture and other critical skills and economic opportunities exhibitions at Gamalakhe Township under Ugu District Municipality on Thursday, 27 July 2023.
Ugu District Agriculture and Other Critical Skills Careers Expo and Economic Opportunities Exhibitions is hosted as part of the Ugu District Development Model (DDM) initiatives aimed at uplifting the lives of the people of Ugu District and surrounding areas.
This initiative follows a resolution adopted during the Ugu District Youth Indaba held on 22 September 2022, to host Youth Careers Exhibitions in contributing towards addressing the high rate of youth unemployment in the area through skills development.
This Expo is hosted by AgriSETA, in partnership with Deputy Minister Manamela, in his capacity as the DDM national champion in Ugu District, Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) and Ugu District Municipality.
The primary aim of the Expo is to raise awareness amongst learners about the many career options available for them post-matric, and to further expose the unemployed youth of Ugu to the available economic opportunities they can participate in.
This Careers Expo will be attended by a total of 1400 intended beneficiaries constituting of learners from the fifteen high schools and unemployment youth from Ugu District Municipality.
Deputy Minister Buti Manamela will be joined by, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms Nokuzola Rosemary Capa, the Executive Mayor of Ugu District Municipality, Cllr Sikhumbuzo Isaac Mqadi and the AgriSETA Board Chairperson Ms Sharon Sepeng.
