Deputy Minister Sotyu to launch Cleaning and Greening In-House District Model Programme with 800 new jobs created in Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality, Free State
The Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms. Makhotso Sotyu, will launch the Cleaning and Greening In-House District Model Programme in Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality in Harrismith, Free State, on 28 November 2023. The programme will lead to 800 new jobs being created across the five local municipalities in the District.
This programme is the expansion of the Good Green Deeds flagship programme – which has created more than 20 000 work opportunities to date whilst creating a cleaner and safe environment, in collaboration with municipalities. The mass employment drive aims to address the challenge of unemployment and the alleviation of poverty in communities. Since the beginning of the 2023/24 financial year more than 20 000 participants have been employed through the Programme.
