Deputy Minister in the Presidency and NYDA chairperson to visit NYDA grant beneficiaries

The Deputy Minister in the Presidency responsible for Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Honourable Buti Manamela and National Youth Development Agency Executive (NYDA) Chairperson, Mr. Yershen Pillay will this week conduct site visits to NYDA funded youth projects in Gauteng.

The aim is to provide the new ministerial leadership of the NYDA with insight into the young people who have benefited from NYDA products and services.

The beneficiary site visit will take place at Siyaphumelela Community Development and Projects (SCDP) in Orange Farm, South of Johannesburg. SCDP is a recycling youth owned cooperative enterprise that received R93 695 in grant funding from the NYDA.

Since inception in 2013 the NYDA grant funding has assisted over 500 youth owned enterprises to start, maintain or expand their existing businesses.

The project visits will give the Deputy Minister a sense of the work undertaken by the NYDA through its various programs. It will also afford both the Deputy Minister and the NYDA Chairperson an opportunity to interact with the beneficiaries to also understand their progress and establish if there are any challenges the young entrepreneurs are faced with.
