Deputy Minister Bernice Swarts open DFFE Limpopo Green Career Expo in Polokwane, 11 Aug

The Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms Bernice Swarts, will on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, officially open the Department’s Limpopo Green Career Expo in Polokwane, Limpopo.

The three-day Expo aims to expose learners and unemployed young people to career and economic opportunities within the environmental sector. It will provide participants with information on career pathways, learnerships, bursaries and employment opportunities available within the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) and across the broader environmental sector.

Deputy Minister Swarts will also use the Expo to highlight the Department’s efforts to create green jobs, develop critical skills and prepare young people to participate meaningfully in the growing green economy.

The Expo is hosted under the theme “Green Careers for Environmental Sustainability” and aligns with Government of National Unity’s (GNU) key priority of Inclusive Growth and Job Creation. The Expo is a collaborative initiative between DFFE, the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET), and the Limpopo Department of Education (LP DBE).

The Expo will also provide a platform to raise awareness about environmental management and sustainability, while strengthening partnerships between government, the education sector and environmental stakeholders.
