Deputy Minister Thomson hosts national imbizo as part of Youth Month celebration in Pietermaritzburg

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Affairs, Ms Barbara Thomson will host a national imbizo and handover school uniform to indigent learners as part of Youth Month celebration in Pietermaritzburg on Monday, 18 June 2018.

The imbizo platform provides an opportunity for unmediated and interactive engagement between government and members of the community. It will involve representatives of churches, NGOs and community based organizations to ensure that the Deputy Minister gets a holistic picture of service delivery related issues from diverse stakeholders in the community. 

This year is the centenary of Tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and Mama Albertina Nontsikelelo Sisulu and Youth Month 2018 is embraced under the theme: “Live the legacy: Towards a socio-economically empowered youth”.

It is on this basis that the Deputy Minister will also handover school uniform to identified indigent learners from  Eastwood Primary, Eastwood Secondary, Panorama Primary , Austen Primary, Glenwood Primary, Mc Cathy Primary, Russell J  Primary, Mpungose Primary, Ashdown Primary, Sanizwile Primary, Muzithusi Primary and George town High.
