DALRRD Women Recognition Awards
The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms Thoko Didiza, together with Mpumalanga MEC for Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Administration, Ms Busisiwe Shiba will host the Women Recognition Awards under the theme “Recognising the role of women in improving rural development, food security and increasing production and employment.”
Female farmers have made an immense contribution towards the eradication of hunger, job creation, and improvement of the rural landscape; hence it is important for them to actively participate in the Agri/food value chains and enjoy equal access and benefits thereof.
The objectives of the 2023 DALRRD Women Recognition Awards are to acknowledge and celebrate women farmers/producers who are contributing to poverty eradication, job creation and food security, provide a platform for women in the sector to showcase their work and share experiences and to support efforts to increase the active participation of women in agriculture and Agro-processing and rural development.
