“Start smart” Student Summit public private partnership addresses student money matters

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Treasury in partnership with KZN Financial Literacy Association, under the auspices of KZN Finance MEC Belinda Scott, will on Tuesday, 7 October 2014 at 9h00, officially launch a ‘Start Smart’ student summit at University of Zululand in Mpangeni.

Student money matters have been a very popular topic in the press recently. Many have highlighted the substantial personal challenge this debt burden poses to a generation of 20 -somethings who are over-indebted.

Don’t be blacklisted even before you start earning. How to deal with that debt?

Yes, you can get rich. And no, you don’t have to be permanently broke. What are your spending habits?

Have you ever considered being your own umpathi (boss)? How can the National Empowerment Fund and National Youth Development Agency help you?

These matters will be tackled at a one day “Start Smart” Student Summit at the University of Zululand by members of the KwaZulu-Natal Financial Literacy Association. The Summit will be attended by government bursary holders and some other students.

Helpdesks from the Office of the Premier’s Bursary Office, National Student Financial Aid Scheme, Office of the Credit Ombudsman and several banks will also be on site to provide help.

All media houses are cordially invited to the “Start Smart” Student Summit which is scheduled as follows:
