Bafana Bafana and Lomontville Golden Arrows midfield maestro Thanduyise “Gonondo” Khuboni has launched a schools tournament which is currently underway.
The tournament which is sponsored by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport and Recreation is earmarked for all the seven high schools in the Clermont area where the player was born and bred.
The purpose of these games is to put back to the community that has supported the player throughout his football career as he is the former leaner of Sithokozile Secondary School in the township.
As part of the promotion for the “Gonondo” Schools Soccer Tournament, the player is currently visiting schools in the mornings for the whole of this week to hand over sport equipment and personally signed soccer jerseys for the schools as well as do motivational speaking during morning assembly.
Wednesday’s visit is of particular significance as the school that Gonondo will be visiting is where he matriculated.
