Former court judge to attend provincial Anti-Corruption Consultative Conference

Renowned former Judge and Head of Special Investigating Unit, Willem Heath will on Friday, 10 September 2010 give a key note address at the Eastern Cape provincial Anti-Corruption Consultative Conference.

The conference will be held at the East London ICC Conference Centre and will start at 08h00.

Former Judge Heath, who chaired the Heath Commission of Enquiry into maladministration and corruption in the Eastern Cape, will address 300 delegates from provincial and local government, public entities, members of the legislature, organised labour, business sector, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and religious fraternity.

The objectives of the provincial Anti-Corruption Consultative Conference are:

  • Review the progress made and challenges encountered in implementing the existing provincial-anti corruption action plan over the past years.
  • Explore best ways of strengthening anti-corruption measures as well as fostering a seamless approach in the fight against corruption in the province.
  • Also explore to what extent the alignment of the third National Anti-Corruption Summit resolutions could be achieved in our provincial anti-corruption plan.
