KZN MEC for Finance, Ms Ina Cronjé will on Thursday 15 October 2009 at 10h30, tables consolidated statement on municipalities' budget for 2008/2009 financial year, at the Provincial Legislature Building in Pietermaritzburg.
It is realised that municipalities are autonomous entities. But they need to spend their money wisely to improve the lives of the people. Mayors and accounting officers at municipalities must ensure strong synergy and cohesion between the Integrated Development Plan, the budget, the Service Delivery Budget Implementation Plan and the performance management system. Mayors are custodians of the budget. They need to be appraised monthly by the accounting officers on progress on budget implementation.
