Arts and culture female employees to do community work in aid of the aged

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Arts and Culture ladies will round off Women’s Month by doing some Good Samaritan work when they visit the Emseni Old Age Home, in Edendale (Pietermaritzburg), on Friday, 28 August 2009 at 9h30.

This visit will see the MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Mrs WG Thusi, the Head of Department, Mrs Stella Khumalo and all female personnel leaving their executive suits and getting their hands dirty as they will be planting some vegetables for the old age home. The purpose of the visit is not only to celebrate Women’s Month with some less fortunate women, but also in line with the government’s one home one garden initiative.

The women in this department are all very excited about this visit; some have even volunteered to bring some clothes such as gowns, morning slippers and other necessities for the elders.

The visit will be followed by a half day workshop where the women of Department of Arts and Culture will be sharing information on topics ranging from career development to leadership, all of which are crucial for any woman in this era. The workshop will be held at the Imperial Hotel in Pietermaritzburg, commencing at 13h00.
