Archives, Libraries, Museums and Language Services conference reshapes the information tool

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Arts and Culture will hold an Archives, Libraries, Museums and Language Services conference under the theme ‘Information for Community Development’.

While in the past each of these directorates held separate conferences, this year the emphasis is on synergy. Information is a common factor among the fields of archives, libraries, museums and language influenced collaboration of these directorates.

MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation, Mrs Weziwe Thusi, will announce the winners of the Literature Writing competition. This competition has contributed to the development of isiZulu writers as well as publication of works produced through the competition.

During the conference these topics will be discussed:

* Promoting reading: services for children in your library
* Cyber Cadet forum
* Storytelling
* National library for the blind
* Multiculturalism and the diverse workplace
* Introduction to preservation
* Oral history methodology
* Moving into the electronic environment: a practical approach

The conference will be held as follows:
