N Hangana to brief media on 16 Days of Activism campaign, 20 Nov

Post card and SMS campaign launch of 16 Days of Activism

15 November 2006

The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children is an
international campaign that originates from the first Women's Global Leadership
Institute sponsored by the Centre for Women's Global Leadership. The campaign
takes place annually from 25 November (International Day of No Violence Against
Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day). The South African
Government runs a parallel campaign that includes issues relating to violence
against children. This campaign focuses primarily on increasing awareness of
the negative impact of violence on women and children and seeks to mobilise all
sectors of society to combat it.

The Deputy Minister of the Department of Provincial and Local Government, Ms
Nomatyala Hangana, who is the national convener of the 16 Days of Activism for
No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign will brief media about this
year's campaign, and launch the post card and the SMS campaigns.
