Minister Davies announces first annual South African Premier Business Awards

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies has called on the business community to enter for the inaugural annual South African Premier Business Awards that will be hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) in conjunction with Proudly South African and Brand South Africa in Gauteng on 20 March 2013.

"The objective of the awards is to recognise and honour local businesses that promote the spirit of success, innovation, job creation, quality and good business ethics in South Africa. They will also showcase the best that South Africa has to offer in terms of businesses, products and services," said Minister Davies.

He added that the awards were also aimed at encouraging and promoting entrepreneurship, public-private partnerships and competitiveness.

"The awards will integrate all single sectored awards into the country’s apex business awards, representing all of the country’s business sectors," he said.

Judges for the award will be drawn from various sectors of the economy and communities. Members of the public will also be encouraged to nominate businesses and businesspeople who they reckon are worthy of being rewarded.

Categories will include Manufacturer Award, Exporter Award, Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises Award, Rural Development Award, Most Empowered Enterprise Award and Proudly South African Enterprise Award.
