MEC Qedani Mahlangu visits Edenvale Hospital

MEC Mahlangu paid a surprise to Edenvale hospital this morning

In a bid to improve the quality of healthcare in the province, Gauteng MEC for Health Qedani Mahlangu visited Edenvale Hospital in Bedfordview this morning.

During her visit, MEC Mahlangu interacted with patients to establish the kind of service they receive daily at the hospital and also to assist managers in finding solutions for the challenges they are facing in order to improve service delivery.

Addressing a packed hospital’s waiting room, MEC Mahlangu assured patients that the department is taking their concerns seriously and will ensure that waiting times are improved. “The department is doing its best to ensure that patients receive the best care and not wait the whole day to be assisted”.

MEC also stressed that patients should be able to get the care and treatment they need at their local clinics.

“Patients should use their local clinics for minor ailments; the Department is also working tirelessly to improve our clinics so that patients go to clinics instead of hospitals”

MEC’s visit affords the department an opportunity to improve service delivery by identifying areas of deficiency in delivering services to Gauteng residents .To restore the public confidence in line with the department’s efforts and to ensure transparency in dealings with service delivery challenges.

Walking through the hospital corridors, MEC Mahlangu was not impressed with the state of cleanliness at the hospital. “A hospital is a place of healing therefore cleanliness is not negotiable. Hospitals should be spotless at all times to ensure that they are free from infections”, concluded MEC Mahlangu.
