The repealed Environment Planning Amendment Act 51 of 1981 intended:

  • to amend the Environment Planning Act [repealed in July 2015], 1967, so as
    • to insert definitions of "Department", "Director-General", "natural resource", "nature area", "processing" and "quarry";
    • to amend certain other definitions;
    • to authorize the Minister, after consultation with certain other Ministers, to reserve land for the purpose of the utilization of natural resources or as nature areas;
    • to make different provision relating to guide plans;
    • to exclude certain land situated within controlled areas from the provisions applicable to controlled areas;
    • to make provision for the issue of certain permits by persons authorized thereto by the Minister;
    • to authorize the Minister to direct a person who opened a quarry without the required authority to restore the land in question;
    • to limit the acts the performance of which may b·e authorized by permit;
    • to make provision for the delegation by the Minister or Administrator of a province of certain powers;
    • to provide that certain provisions of the Act shall apply also to the State; and
    • to make provision for the assignment of the administration of any provision of the Act to any Minister or the Administrator of a province; and
  • to provide for incidental matters.
