Shipping and Civil Aviation Laws Rationalisation Act, 1994 (No. 28 of 1994)
Act
- to repeal certain laws relating to shipping and civil aviation; and
- to provide for matters connected therewith.

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, as follows:-
Application
1. This Act and the laws mentioned in Schedule B shall apply throughout the Republic.
Repeal or laws
2. (1) The laws mentioned in the first column of Schedule A are hereby repealed to the extent indicated in the second column thereof.
(2) Any law contemplated in section 2 of the Status of the Transkei Act, 1976 (Act No. 100 of 1976), section 2 of the Status of Bophuthatswana Act, 1977 (Act No. 89 of 1977), section 2 of the Status of Venda Act, 1979 (Act No. 107 of 1979), and section 2 of the Status of Ciskei Act, 1981 (Act No. 110 of 1981), which is still in force in any area and which is not mentioned in Schedule A, is hereby repealed to the extent to which that law is in conflict with, or refers to a matter dealt with in, a law mentioned in Schedule B.
Transitional provisions
3. (1) Any licence, certificate, permit or authorisation issued or granted in terms of a law repealed by section 2, shall be deemed to have been issued or granted in terms of the provisions of the corresponding law mentioned in Schedule B and shall remain in force subject to the conditions under which it was issued or granted and for the period for which it was issued or granted or for a period not exceeding six months as from the date of commencement of this Act, whichever period is the shorter.
(2) Any board, council. or. body instituted by or in terms of a law repealed by section 2 shall cease to exist at the commencement of this Act, whereafter the members of such a board, council or body shall not be entitled to receive any further remuneration or allowances by virtue of their appointment to that board, council or body.
Short title and commencement
4. This Act shall be called the Shipping and Civil Aviation Laws Rationalisation Act, 1994, and shall come into operation on a date fixed by the President by proclamation in the Gazette.
