World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2014

28 April

World Day for Safety and Health at Work

World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an international campaign to promote safe, healthy, and decent work.

It is an awareness-raising campaign intended to focus international attention on emerging trends in the field of occupational safety and health and on the magnitude of work-related injuries, diseases and fatalities worldwide.

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) began to observe World Day in 2003, stressing the prevention of accidents and illnesses at work, capitalising on its traditional strengths of tripartism and social dialogue. 28 April is also a day the world's trade union movement has long associated with commemorating victims of occupational accidents and disease.

The Theme for the World Day for Safety and Health at Work in 2014 is: Safety and health in the use of chemicals at work.
