Tomorrow, 24 November 2009, Premier Helen Zille, the MEC for Education Donald Grant, and the Western Cape Education Department's (WCED) Head of Department Penny Vinjevold, will be releasing the provincial government's strategic plan for education.
The release of the education plan is just one part of the Western Cape government's overall strategic plan for the province, the purpose of which is to create an opportunity society for all in the Western Cape.
The education plan will outline how the provincial government intends to improve education outcomes and will provide specific targets for improvements in literacy and numeracy, national senior certificate results and under-performing schools.
