Western Cape government calls for nominations for Board of new Liquor Authority

Western Cape Minister in charge of liquor regulation, Alan Winde, has called for nominations for the board of the Western Cape Liquor Authority. Members of the public have until the end of this week, 12h00 on Friday 27 January, to submit nominations.

The Western Cape Liquor Authority is a newly established public entity brought about by the promulgation of the Liquor Act of 2008. It will take over from the current Western Cape Liquor Board, which is situated within the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, on 1 April 2012. It will be charged with regulating the legal liquor industry, including assessing new liquor licence applications and renewals. It will also be charged with taking action against establishments that contravene our liquor laws.
